A good place to start your career or build your resume

Pros

Since most departments lack any kind of standardized operating procedures, training documents, best practices, etc. there is a LOT of low hanging fruit to pick from when trying to build your resume. There is a general lack of organization and discipline throughout the company so it is quite a bit easier to implement new ideas than other companies with more structure. With so many problems to fix, it's fairly easy to make an impact in improving things.

Cons

Below market pay, tendency to hire from outside instead of promoting from within, little to no training offered (except for operations-related subjects), only match up to 4% of 401k contributions (after first 6 months), no stock awards except for director-level positions and higher. No institutionalized career development so it's up to you and your boss to plot a career path, assuming you're lucky enough to have a boss who cares. Since there is no consistency in how things are done (due to the lack of managerial discipline of executives) it can be very frustrating at times.

Pros

Company offers good pay and decent benefits. You get a paycheck every two weeks. Those are pretty much the only positives.

Cons

People are openly miserable at every level (directors, managers, seniors, staff) and it is a known fact that your peers and bosses are actively looking for employment elsewhere. The recurring joke was that no one would be left next year due to voluntary turnover. When they hire someone, they promise certain things but they never follow through, they are conveniently forgotten, or swept under the rug due to "changes in the organization." HR is completely worthless and non-existent. There are other O&G companies that are more established, have better pay/benefits, and treat their employees like human beings - do not come here.

Pros

Great team players, and a plethora of highly talented people. Empowers you to make change; gives you responsibility early on. Acceptable benefits as compared to others in the OFS industry

Cons

No career path for non-field personnel. Poor or no work-life balance. Too high personnel rotation at all levels, job uncertainty.
