Pros

- Generous discount - lots of product training - great products and passionate customers.

Cons

- no training for management - supervisors bullied and over worked - staff treat work place as a social gathering and don't see supervisors as management. - no rules or set shop standards - constant instore drama. - every store is different and management are left To run store how they choose, so there is never a clear framework of what is expected as a company. - store manager frequently doesn't turn up to work with no explaination, off work for months on end sick, you never know when they will turn up. - assistant manager is truly the only good thing about this store, overworked and taking on responsibility of the full store and really tried hard to keep everyone motivated in an extremely low morale store. - high staff then over over 80% of supervisors have left in a year of working here. - extremely disorganised

Pros

50% staff discount Fun atmosphere Other staff were nice to work with Interesting, usually nice customers Decent bonus scheme

Cons

Too sales-driven; managers would encourage authenticity but in practise cared more about achieving targets Inefficient supervisors; often stood around chatting among eachother, but would pause to give 'feedback' if you weren't with a customer (even if the only customer in the shop just wanted to browse alone) Unorganised management; rotas often published just a day or two before the new week began Some part-time staff were very competitive, some supervisors also seemed to worry about 'getting ahead' Lack of structure within company Below the living wage (despite using its 'ethics' as a marketing tactic) Clear favouritism and lots of cliques

Fun in the shops but poisonous behind the scenes

Pros

The job can be fun in store. There is staff discount and lots of activity so it's not as boring as other retail jobs.

Cons

Paid less than other similar jobs (on all levels). When you see what a culture of bullying and lies is behind the scenes you feel like an idiot for believing it's an "ethical" business. The company is run on fear and paranoia and you are not allowed to have a private life. You have to worship Mark and you have no strong career prospects unless you are a member of the family.
