Pros

Good food and a good bonus structure. Benefits and Vacation for salaried workers. Great way to build your resume.

Cons

Company has strayed form its core values and is now run by many former Burger King managers. While bonus structure was good, missing your bonus by a single point means you are a failure and you are hounded for it. I started working for Five Guys thinking they would be different, and at one point they were. In recent years the company has become greedy, they hired many BurgerKing managers at the regional level and up after they lost their jobs for declining sales in that brand. These Burger King managers took the family atmosphere away from Five Guys and have turned it into a corporate machine that looks only at numbers, and nothing else. In my personal experience I was quickly promoted due to my strong work ethic, after being a "fixer" for several stores I was given my own store that was struggling after years of poor management. I had a great district manager who gave me the support I needed and i had turned the store around in about 60 days. Shortly after making our Steritech (brand standards and food safety audit) bonus for the first time in that store in over two years I left the company after being offered a job with much better growth potential and income potential. My reward? Five Guys shorted my last paycheck. After the company tried to justify the cut saying I did not work a full week my last week (I did put in five full days) I appealed this to the state and won a judgement against them. This kind of underhanded move is just another nail in the coffin for what once was a great family run company with good values.

Pros

Paid break, free food, good music, was easy to get an interview.

Cons

They hire 20 people and in a period of 3 months filter through them by firing 15 of them. If they can't find a reason to fire you they will give you 0 hours until you leave yourself. The whole management team seems like they barely got trained. The whole "chill" attitude is also annoying since it is fake and they try to force it on you.

Pros

Fun, drug-addled, alcoholic coworkers. Beats Jimmy John's.

Cons

Lousy pay, sub-par benefits, manipulative, dishonest management, tacky, shameless marketing, unfair expectations, poor food, and management typically works 65-70 hrs/week with no time off (upper management guilt trips you when you try to use vacation, and makes you tend the store remotely -- sick time non-existent). This job is exclusively for burnouts and sado-masochists, with the rare success stories belonging to morally bankrupt old, white men with prior corporate restaurant experience. Avoid like the plague.
