Pros

the best thing about working for ups is the pay and benefits. They are hard to beat even though the job is physically demanding. Peak season is the hardest time of year . If you like driving alot and do like the satisfaction of getting something accomplished every day then it is fine. meeting people from all different backgrounds and work enviroments is also cool. For some reason people are attracted to that brown uniform and are usually very friendly. The retirment benefit are very good if you can make it that long. When you are delivering you are pretty much left alone

Cons

Management has a us against you mentallity. I realize that we are a union company but they pit driver against driver, and manager against manager all the time. They can be very unrealistic in there goals and really do not care to understand the driver side of the story. The hours can be very long and it is difficult if you have a family because you do not know what time you may be home. I would not recommend this job if you have a family or need to take time off unexpectedly. The temperature extremes are sometimes hard to get use to.

Pros

Health and medical benefits were good! The benefits were great when I was an hourly employee, but after getting promoted into management, the co-pays increased and the actual amount of coverage stared to decline significantly in comparison to the hourly/union employees.

Cons

The good ole boy club is alive and well! Promotions are never a fair process! Senior management will tell one person that they need a degree in order for them to get promoted while promoted someone the same day that doesn’t have a degree. Women and minorities are always held to a different standard. Drivers are worse than the teenage employees.

Pros

The job as a UPS driver is great for the benefits and the pay. Ups drivers are among the highest paid deliver drivers on the road and do not have to pay extra for benefits. This is great news for someone who has a family and the union fights very hard to make sure that drivers get the pay they deserve and try to keep management from working us to death delivering more packages that we can handle. If you work for them for long enough then you will have great job security because you will only get fired if you really mess up or are not liked very much.

Cons

Management breathing downing your back every minute. Will threaten to fire you if you are not like very much. Long hours on the road no matter what the weather is.
