Pros

The only good reason I could think of is part-time is offered at a good salary. Another good reason is that many shifts are offered, even overnight work which is beneficial to some people.

Cons

Employees are not respected and are treated poorly. In the office I worked at it was all about who you were close to and befriended. Promotions were not based on experience/knowledge or seniority. Employee morale was very low and the employee turnover rate was very high.

Pros

Pay was very good and benefits reasonable. A lot of incentive to hold your stock (that they award management) with a 2% bonus each year. 401K was good with 3% matching.

Cons

As a management employee, hours were long (12-14 hour days not unusual), particularly for center supervisors. As an Engineering Manager, there were 12 hour days ending at 21:00, only to have to be back on the preload at 03:00. By the end of the week you'd be pretty tired and worn out.

Pros

Fringe benefits (heath ins. , school payments) surpass many companies both small and large. I took this job to help me pay my way through school and it is more than helping me to do that. I am also able to live on my own completely independent of outside help (parents, etc) in the STL metro area. I also am fortunate to work for someone who gives me space to do my job and is also close to me in age which makes it easier to juggle work and school.

Cons

Long/weird hours, no recognition for good work. no balance between work/home life. Also, our HR people suck. They make dumb/shortsighted hires that ensure an already high turnover rate gets no better. Other than our busy season we seem to ALWAYS be understaffed (which means middle managers and even my boss working often). Also, I don't understand how our raises are calculated yearly. I wan les than thrilled with my figure this past march.
