Pros

The benefits are their only hook to keep people from leaving and finding other work. Another pro is that UPS is unionized which protects your rights from the supervisors expecting you to risk your safety to complete their jobs.

Cons

The pay is very low considering other package handlers' pay. Management is very unorganized, they don't train the supervisors and then give them control of ten men for four hours of chaos.

Cons

Work very hard in outside temps.

Pros

Health benefits even for part time employees. Also paid vacations and a great retirement package. Keeps you energetic and in shape because you are always moving. Driving days go by fast because you are working against the clock at all times, not staring at it. Also you are in the union.

Cons

The main thing is you really have to be committed if you want to get full time. At my center, it takes right around ten years just to get full time! Every thing is by seniority due to the union, so sometimes the wrong people win the job that you surely are more qualified to do. So, a pro and a con-you're in the union.
