Pros

The people you are surrounded with are smart, balanced, forward-thinking, and progressive. Working in the field allows you to maintain your own schedule, and I rarely felt like my manager was breathing down my neck. If you do your job well, you will enjoy working here. If you struggle, you will know it very quickly.

Cons

Communication from Corporate can be a challenge at times- the reality of the large organization means that often the message is blurred. Slow at times to resolve issues, as group consensus is extremely important.

Pros

The heritage, corporate responsibility and the partners. Starbucks built its brand on quality, consistency and convenience. We have tried to grow big while remain small, and I think senior leadership's continued vision is a good one, but so far, they have failed to correct the district and regional leadership's wayward path from that vision

Cons

The district and regional leadership are COMPLETELY out of touch. The phoenix market has diluted itself with external hires that don't really know how to manage the business or even what made Starbucks successful in the past. Store managers are not able to perform the tasks that are being asked of them and are GROSSLY under-compensated for the amount of time that is required to do the job well.

Pros

1) Gives entry level management experience in coporate America. 2) A place where you can work your way to Store Management from bottom - beyond SM is questionable. 3) Great work/life balance. 4) Insurance for part-time partners (twenty or more hours per week). 5) Starbucks is a very socially responsible company. 6) Free coffee and espresso beverages while working. 7) Managers have great leadership confernces

Cons

1) Pay is not competitive for Store Managers. 2) Managers cannot give merit pay increases to partners. 3) Inventory system is outdated. 4) College education is not valued. 5) Too much communication and target changes. 6) Small backrooms to offive out of.
