Pros

Great environment in most stores, fairly easy job, free coffee, solid benefits, good products, fast paced.

Cons

They hire outside of the company way too much and don't promote enough within, leading to people you trained being your bosses. The senior management team has pretty much all changed meaning all of the people that created the Starbucks culture are gone, besides Schultz and he has been consumed by wall street.

Pros

the benefits!!! I got medical and dental for only $19 every two weeks! you get free drinks while working and a free pound of coffee weekly. You build relationship with some great customers. Basically, networking can help in getting a way better job because most of these customers are professionals and business people. Starbucks Coffee is worldwide so you can transfer anywhere in the country. You can also pick up extra hours from other employees from other stores in the area. You get tips weekly. They can be between 50 cents to 2 dollars depend on how busy the store is. They are really helpful as gas or lunch money.

Cons

No opportunity to grow! they don't support education so if you're a student, you can't get a promotion because they want you to devote 24 hrs of your day to them. It's unacceptable to be sick because they won't let you call sick. They will hold you responsible to find someone to work for you even if you're very very sick. You work like a janitor. Taking trash out constantly, swiping, mopping and cleaning after customers every 10 minutes. Washing tuns of dishes like you were a dishwasher at a restaurant. Some of the supervisor act like they're God, like being a supervisor is like being a CEO or something. Employees don't like to go by the book when it come to making customers drinks the right way. They give customers decaf coffee whenever they feel like it!

Pros

If you are a college it is a great place to work. You get free drinks when you work, 30% discounts, and you build a bond with other employees.

Cons

Out of my 4 years working at Starbucks I have seen a lot of people come and go. It is a low paying job but it is good if you need the benefits. You start off around $7.30 for a barista. Now I have been there since Nov 2004 and it is Nov of 2008 and I am only making $9.70 now, and I am a shift supervisor. And the hostess working at the place next to my Starbucks makes $15 dollars an hour. So it is crap pay for the amount of work you have to do and BS you have to take from customers but I do love my job, I am just fed up with the lack of pay. And with all of the closing of stores recently there is no real advancment opportunities for people in this company.
