      Great company and people with a healthy outlook for the future

      Pros

      -Great camaraderie among SolidWorks employees. Lots of very smart people with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude. -Very strong core product line. -Highly profitable. -Never had a round of lay-offs in the company’s ~20 year history unlike some competitors. The parent company, Dassault Systemes’, has a philosophy of not laying off in tough times, but rather carefully watching expenses and reinvesting for the future.

      Cons

      -SolidWorks has always run very lean, so sometimes it feels we have insufficient staff in certain areas, but see comment above about not having lay-offs. -Closer ties to the parent company mean that decision-making tends to happen at a slower pace than was the case previously, as more people are involved in the process.

      Pros

      Smart people. Cool software. Very international environment. Busy - Lots of work to do. new building is pretty nice. good salary. flexible hours. my boss is great.

      Cons

      Not enough staff. Lack of decisionmaking due to mother company imposing its will. Way too many complex and heavy processes. Poor communication. Too many initiatives happening at once, without clear understanding of what we are doing and why.
