      Don't expect to be rewarded with promotions even if you are an outstanding employee.

      Pros

      Relatively stable job. It's a good place to get experience before you find a better paying job elsewhere. The programs are exciting.

      Cons

      The promotion system is broken and they are top heavy. They say they pay for performance. What they actual mean is that they pay you for your years of service and performance. It is very frustrating when you do twice the work of the person sitting next to you yet they make twice as much as you do just because they have been there longer. They will not consider you for promotions unless you have been working your current job for a certain number of years even if you are a rockstar employee.

      Pros

      I worked here for a little over five years. I started with them right out of college. While I learned a lot in these years, lately they are slowing down in business and employee morale is low. - Lots of training classes available - Paid for my education (although I do not believe they do this anymore) - Lots of work locations - Some telecommuting options

      Cons

      By the time I recently left, it was: - A horrible dog-eat-dog type of environment - Several layers of managers and people who "think" they're managers that actual managers are afraid to put back in their place - Budget pressures felt companywide which caused: - extremely low morale - months of reorganization/ layoff warnings, again - managers to tell employees there are no more resources for training or additional opportunities - no more than 2% a year raises

      Long time between promotions

      Pros

      Lockheed has been consistent in keeping me employed, although, the compensation is a bit low, and hard to increase.

      Cons

      The promotion rate is slow, their performance reviews are mostly for window dressing, and filling out the evaluations seems to fit neatly into their checked box type of management.
