Smart people, interesting science going on. The view makes a lot of things better.

Cons

Competitive environment, few chances for promotion. Parking is difficult Some buildings are sub-par, but new ones are greatly improved

Pros

Working at LBL as part time employee, while still an Undergrad was a nice experience. The hours were flexible and you go to experience what working for a government lab doing full time research was like.

Cons

Since it's a government facility, getting things approved took forever. The work progress was pretty slow.
