Pros

Good for expats, with good benefits. Salary above average. You get more vacation the longer you stay in the company. Profit participation. Technical career well-defined (I'm not saying it's fair).

Cons

Management hierarchy not clear and changes a lot. Change names of project, product way too often, confusing everybody. Lots of micro-management. Management accessibility not easy, too vertical hierarchy. Super volatile with oil market despite attempts from high executives who says the bottom of the crisis has been reached. Lack of clarity in the way to go: Managers want A, Portfolio wants B, client certainly wants C. Managers and Portfolio often disagree and Software Engineers are divided between decisions not coming from a single source. Lots of managers doing technical decisions even though they were supposed to have come from technical side. Of course, it is not a software company, so don't expect your manager will understand that need the team has to do refactoring, or re-architect things. Company values do not match reality

Pros

Good people at the local level. The work is engaging and challenging.

Cons

Too many to count. Career advancements are extremely limited. Pay raises are minimal and don't get close to keeping up with inflation even for top performers. At the corporate level they are using acquisitions to hide massive layoffs. They return billions in profit to investors consistently, but there is still a constant threat of layoffs and multiyear freezes on pay raises even with inflation and solid corporate profit.
