Pros
I've been here for a couple of months. Biggest pro is the conviction every employee has in the product and mission - this makes it a genuinely positive place to work. Genuinely flexible working and supportive environment. Plenty of interesting and meaningful work. Kraken is a high-tech forward thinking company, and the work reflects it. Excellent and highly intelligent people to learn from. A large cohort of the existing employees complain about the changing culture (i.e. becoming more corporate), but this is the best place I have worked in my career so far. Kraken believes in developing it's people and there are many cases of people being promoted from junior up to department leadership. Good pay and benefits. Amazing office.
Cons
A lot of passing the buck to different teams - people can be immature in taking accountability. Similarly, there is a lack of confidence, where people sometimes ask multiple times to confirm a point. This is not specifically a con because it's out of wanting to do the right thing but it can make getting things done complicated. There is a large amount of nepotism in senior leadership, but the senior leadership team seem competent. No HR - managers play the HR function too - this is only okay if your manager is a good leader. The structure is quite flat which can be good in theory but multiple business areas have a "multiple managers" issue.
