Pros

Good work life balance Opportunities to grow within the company A good Pension scheme (although not available to new staff)

Cons

A big drive to be transparent with the customer but there's a big gap in transparency with staff. Management can focus on little savings like do not travel and then we can see big fat paid consultants (e.g. Bain, Baringa) being paid millions to come and copy the work of staff and claim it as their own in pretty slides is hugely demotivating to staff.

Pros

Good 9 to 5 culture. London Locations are great. Safety culture improving on non-nuclear sites. Work-Life balance with big room to flexibility (not open to all and big elements of favouritism if you synchronised with top tier managers)

Cons

Top tiers of management are useless and not prepared to challenge the business just want to keep the status quo. They pay no attention to employee needs but also not worry with business performance. EDF energy show elements of a "grow-up" company from the nuclear side but anything non-nuclear related is rubbish and very detrimental and depressing to be perfectly honest.

Pros

Pays very well with easy oppurtunities to rise in pay every year. There is stability in working hours and location. 25 days holiday, 8.30 to 4.30 weekdays exclusively, outage pays 3 times your normal pay for double the hours and is manditory. Atmosphere around plants is relaxed and cheerful. Willing to ensure they hold onto good candidates with good offers.

Cons

Bad experience that will lead to you unable to get a job elsewhere. No reason to actually do anything, as there are people everywhere who are useless at their jobs being given promotions, or telling you that they can't do the work that you require them to do, with no option to find someone else, as they are the only ones who are qualified. No back up system, no work ethic, no job satisfaction. Instant bubble feeling with everyone within the company completely ignorant of jobs outside of the plant. Limited possibilities to become chartered, and no one interested in helping. Forced to pack lunch or put up with the most expensive school type canteens, half hour break does not give time to get outside of the plant, and all base locations are in the middle of no where. Disconnected management structure interested only in pushing graphs to look good and not getting work done, complete disjoint in communication between departments.
