      Deloitte MCS (Consulting, London)- Good place to work, but changes required...

      Pros

      good breadth of services; really smart junior people; global network of experts; having Corporate Finance, Audit, Tax and Consulting under one roof really makes Deloitte different and provides competitive advantage vs competitors (including Mck, BCG, Bain)

      Cons

      *bad work-life balance--people work hard but are not compensated commensurately *partners aloof over concerns of staff and only concerned with taking home their profit slice *staff get little say in project selection / staffing *lack of incentives for thinking out of the box or pushing the envelope *tremendous amount of admin work with no admin support for staff *good employees who leave do so unceremoniously--partners do not treat them as if they have potential to be future clients

      Perfectly fine place to work, unless you came over from BearingPoint in the integration

      Pros

      Health & Fitness subsidy (company pays for half of eligible expenses, up to $500) Brand recognition (it looks good on a resume later)

      Cons

      Those of us that came over as a result of the BearingPoint acquisition got screwed. Many people were below market vale for their experience and were not given an opportunity to renegotiate. Also, the culture is still very much an "us vs. them" mentality.

      Pros

      the firm offers many learning opportunities and is a great place to start for someone who is self-motivated and willing to capitalize on the availability of these resources

      Cons

      January through April/May is horrendous. Work 80+ hours a week, lots of weekends, and don't even think of asking for a day off
