Pros

If you want to work in food service, it's a large company with lots of different divisions or acquired companies ... so something for everyone. Also some really talented culinarians doing some very interesting things.

Cons

The expectations for managers were for a minimum 50 hours per week, and sixty was closer to average. No overtime of course, and always on call. In some ways, it is just too large a company ... new Payroll, Accounting, Inventory etc systems and new initiatives and programs were constantly being rolled out, without consideration for the individual units' business cycle, needs, challenges, etc. Doubt that Sodexo or Aramark are much different ... to some extent it's the nature of the contract food service industry. You always have to innovate and set the bar higher, your client can always put the account out to bid to get one of the competitors to underbid to get in the door, and the financial rewards, over time, don't seem worth the physical toll it takes on your body and the all-consuming nature of the work (and hours expected).

Pros

If there are any I don't know what they are.

Cons

Management will ask for your opinion but thats all they do is ask. They will NEVER accept any opinion that isn't theirs. Bottom line ALL employees are just a bodies. They don't care about employees only the company.

Pros

Compass involves several different divisions. The business dining division Eurest is probably the most demanding of it's management. Overall the benefits, pay and ability for advancement are great for competent individuals. The opportunities to move around the country are great, and to move between divisions. The resources that support the managers are top rate. The pay and benefits for hourly employees is good, so you are able to hire good employees.

Cons

To properly manage an account the hours are very long. Many new managers struggle because the training is quite basic. They give you your account, hang out with you for a week, then they need to go to handle new crisis. When new accounts are opened or special events are slated, management has to work them without any additional compensation. Sometimes, you may work 12 days in a row and it is hard physically and mentally.
