Pros

Originally a nice place to work, with a decent work life balance and a caring environment. CACIB remains well regarded in the market for certain products and sectors.

Cons

HR has gone completely rogue, implementing a return to work policy as early as June 2020, which completely disregards employees' real circumstances. This has led to 150+ departures in less than 2 years (out of 700 staff), with many senior, talented employees (particularly women) leaving the bank. In terms of compensation, there is limited opportunity for upside and not enough differentiation for strong performers. The deferral plan is also very detrimental for high earners.

Toxic management

Pros

• The work is not challenging so you will have more time to focus on other outside activities, like finding a better job. • Lots of foreign employees.

Cons

• I had the most toxic and most political managers in my entire work experience. Managers with no humanity will pull you down themselves if they don't like you. • Promotion and salary increase are not output-based or skill-based, but your likability on the perspective of French management. You will witness management favorites get promoted while excellent and hard-working employees who are doing the real work get neglected with measly increase. Performing in year end parties or organizing department outings will give you more chance to be promoted than doing the actual work. • The management is rude to the core and find pleasure in lowering the morale of employees. You will witness managers being racists, making fun of foreign employees' accent, bad-mouthing co-workers, employees who are resigning or resigned, and even counterparts in Paris/overseas. Rude managers will sometimes speak in their native language during meetings to avoid other attendees from participating in the discussion. • In summary, I have a horrible experience working with CACIB.

Indian hierarchy management

Pros

Recommended for Indian India origin. 90% are of indian origin. Eg out of a dept of 180 around 90%are indian. Let's not forget there are other departments too. The other dept too are dominated by Indian. It is very normal to see a reporting structure of up to two or three level of indian mgm before reaching the french mgm. It is very safe for indians as they tend to work behind the door, indian style of management. You will fit very well if you are indian.

Cons

If you are non Indian, it could be discouraging. As the culture is heavily leaning towards Indian culture, it easy to face racism, or simply lack of trust among the indian and non-Indian. Not surprising. Important roles or task usually heavily filtered despite how good you are. They tend to hire their own ppl for important task. Non indian will be filtered for low priority tasks. The rest of the non-Indian roles are more more to fill up the quota. But, indian are almost 90% , strange. Does they ever follow the quota? As you 3ill be working with mostly indian hired contract staff, the staff holds onto information due to insecurity. Be prepare that you will be celebrating Indian festive more than any of the national celebration.
