Not Diversity Friendly, Outdated Senior Management

Pros

Good compensation, nice benefits, company car.

Cons

Homophobic (and generally diverse-phobic) senior management. They loved, absolutely loved, what I did for the company until they found out I was gay. Promised promotions, withdrawn. I could have filed a lawsuit against them, but didn't. We 'agreed' to a non-disclosed agreement. Am I still mad at BD for their poor judgement. Most definitely. But I'm glad to have them out of my life.

Very interesting, socially beneficial products, bright people, pleasant working conditions, flexible work schedules.

Cons

Can be bureaucratic, not-invented-here attitude, recent top management change threatens the positive aspects of the company, director level and higher people are poor communicators.

Okay Place to Work, But Nothing to Brag About

Pros

Most employees are nice to work with. Weight room available (extra fee), cafeteria with fairly decent food (subsidized, average cost about $6.50 per meal w/o drink), no smoking on premises.

Cons

One of the company values is "doing what is right," but of course it doesn't necessarily apply if it means slowing down production, or when it comes to standing up against internal politics. The decor in the original building (there are three total) is extremely outdated and there hasn't been much effort to modernize it, just occasional replacement of old stuff with the same style. Interior of original building can get quite noisy at times, depending on where you sit. All the money went into design of the two newer buildings.
