Pros

- Important products to improve lives of patients and help clinicians - CMO is growing our marketing capabilities and has a great classical marketing background - Good career opportunities to advance - Benefits

Cons

- Matrix and process-heavy, consensus is needed by everyone and their cousin so you have no autonomy when it comes to projects, unnecessary red tape - Analysis paralysis - Teams and culture are very formal/corporate stiff and everyone is in it for themselves - expect no support other than ones that help your coworkers' individual goals - No onboarding process... and interview process was clunky with little communication (all the HR contacts had left the company) - Different acquisitions have left cluttered processes - Little foundational knowledge of marketing among many team members - more product and general management heavy

Pros

Decent Benefits and Still Decent pay.

Cons

BD doesn't care about people anymore, only revenue. Too many corporate driven projects with minimal direction that manufacturing and distribution centers have to follow, work life balance is non existing, managers have poor skills, benefits not as good when BD/BARD were separate, really high turnover, poor communication at all sites and so many more.

Pros

Overall, BD is a good company with a strong purpose and a “BD Nice” culture. I’ve been in a couple roles in different business units, and found the work to be quite rewarding. People are very collaborative, perhaps even too consensus driven in their decision making.

Cons

BD needs to improve the gender equity, especially at the top. During the many years I was there, all 3 segment Presidents and all 10 BU Presidents were men. Even at the VP/GM and Platform Leader level, it was >80% men. When I was pregnant and had a baby, I did not feel supported. My manager actually told my direct reports that “things would get worse” while I was out on maternity leave. I understand how my maternity leave is not optimal, but communicating it so directly to my own team really made me feel pressure to come back early from leave.
