I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Berlin) in Sep 2018
Interview
I've been headhunted by ThoughtWorks Deutschland in September 2018.
1. Short 30 min conversation with HR.
2. Given home coding task for Pair Programming online Interview prior 1 or 2 days to it.
3. Pair Programming Interview (1 hour) online.
4. On-site Interview Day - half a day.
4.1. Technical session to work on agile dashboard with Senior ThoughtWorker.
4.2. Cultural Interview which is free-form conversation with 2 people.
4.3. Technical 1-on-1 interview with Principal ThoughtWorks Engineer.
The big bet that company made is on cultural development and support as the result I was feeling very happy during whole interview process and I think they're great company and great people - even I didn't get an offer but was very close to it :-)
This is definitely the company which others should learn from.
Some people think that their cultural development is too fanatic & crazy, but I think it's a case where fanatism is much better than 90% of companies who has very poor culture.
Besides that I am changing interview difficult to "Difficult" because I think it was "Average" but in fact if you will not answer some questions you will not given an offer.
Must haves:
1. TDD & co. school - be able to code lively with TDD in mind and good OOP design.
2. Be prepared to all general Computer Science / Practices questions.
3. Microservices - be able to answer questions how to build architectures for projects. Build Microservices book from ThoughtWorker Sam Newman will fill you enough with answers.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Code Mars Rovers task at home and show your coding abilities during online pair-programming interview.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Gurgaon, Haryana)
Interview
was in the process of hiring for the position since a month which I gave interview today and was very much excited. But I faced a humiliating experience today (courtesy the house keeping staff behaviour).
After giving my peer programming , HR requested to have lunch and then when panels will be available we will start with the interview.
I had a good lunch and then went to put my plates, housekeeping manager or may be he would be housekeeping representative asked me to empty the food in trash , which i did (as we usually do everywhere), then he sort of ordered me that you need to clean the plates well in first basin with water then put it in the second basin. As , I in my whole experience or in my academics , i never faced situation where you are asked to clean plates(i felt a bit bad momentarily, but quickly thought it may be for everyone). In my mind ,, i was thinking of the next interview though I just casually replied housekeeping guy "I am not sure this would be done by housekeeping" . I dont know why this housekeeping guy felt so bad, and he said twice "this is done by everyone here" etc... i just said ok and acknowledged away thinking of my interview. He then discussed with one employee , then maybe went to HR. Meanwhile I drank water and the moment i came to meeting room , apporv came and replied me that you have talked very rudely to him and you got very angry etc... I said sorry to HR that may be he felt something bad , but i didnt meant something like that , as i was just thinking of interviews. HR was also like fumed off me.
Then he said that the decision has been changed and you were not good with designs and gave some reasons and we would not go ahead with candidature.
This is the way they treat the candidates, the cafeteria guy can go and complaint about false and irrelevant things and hr will take action and revert their decisions and will talk in unprofessional manner.
So, better be aware before going there.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A basic use case was given, and you are asked to correct its design and sort of refactor it. the use case is so small that you can break the structure a bit only as there is not much business logic in it
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Barcelone) in Mar 2018
Interview
I was contacted by internal Thoughtworks talent, telling me how great my profile was and such.
We agreed on a time for a skype call and the recruiter suggested we meet at their office.
It was not easy to agree on it, but we found a slot. Family and work don't leave much free time. Anyway, I asked to postpone the agreed date, as my wife had an accident and I needed to take care of my daughter. They were apparently nice, but I have been waiting for weeks since then, and nobody has contacted me anymore.
I got the impression they don't care about personal life/work balance.
