I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in Jul 2022
Interview
I applied for a TPM remote role that required 75% travel, went through 7 hours of interviews, and completed a writing assignment. Received positive feedback throughout the interview process and was told I would receive a decision within 5 days.
10 days later… I followed up, they told me they still didn’t have an answer. A few more days passed, and finally, I received a call from the recruiter letting me
know that I am “definitely amazonian material” and Amazon should proceed with employment, however, the team thinks I would be better suited for a different role, arguably a more complex role, but the hiring manager for that department was on PTO and they would get back to me upon their return.
Several days go by with no communication, I reached out via email trying to set up a call with the recruiter to gain some clarity on the matter, but I received no response. After several emails attempting to reach out, the recruiter responds by saying sorry they don’t have an offer because they don’t have a position for me, but the team suggested you should apply to roles in the other department. The recommendation was extremely vague and unclear soI asked for some direction, but they weren't able to provide any. The recruiter mentioned that they made a note on my file and I should look on the website to pursue other roles in Amazon, and by the way the roles we think you should apply for arent remote so look for locations that you would be willing to relocate to.
Thanks for the kind words and suggestions, but I specifically applied to a remote/travel role. Either I got the job I applied for or I didnt. If you're going to suggest I pursue other roles, be specific, don't tell me to go to the website and look around.
Amazon should be ashamed of the lack of communication and level of disorganization the recruitment department displayed throughout this process. I am extremely disappointed with Amazon's lack of professionalism, this experience proved that Amazon has no respect for people's time or effort.

Interview
The Amazon interview process is grueling. There are 4 rounds of interviews: Recruiter screening, Hiring Manager, the gaunlet (5 1 hour interviews that includes a bar raiser)
As a "seasoned" worker, it was clear I had no shot based upon the interviewees background.
