Pros

good tools, pay is ok if your sent to Iraq or Oman or similar hell hole.

Cons

only worth it if you are sent to a hell hole, even then the pay isnt Thattt good. When you leave your training their are NO other opportunities, NONE, you will most likely have to do a complete career change. Then the degree you had is close to useless since it will be around 4years since you did it, I personally found myself in this position, my grades were high through uni as well! dont be fooled you WILL be worked like a slave you WILL end up loosing most of your friends due to no contact. you WILL lose your girlfriend and you WILL lose the best parts of your youth in a job with no prospects earning what you could have been in a few years any way with a better more balanced job. Schlumberger pry on the young and greedy fresh from uni they will hang a golden caret in front of you. they get your youth, the best years of your life, and in return you get some money and a dead end career. Sorry Folks its the truth.

Pros

Good way to get some basic industry experience to put on a resume. Training programs are well done and thorough.

Cons

The promotional process is ridiculously complicated and requires huge amounts of jumping through hoops on your own time outside of work. Also, jumping through those hoops in a timely manner is required if you don't want to get canned. Apt to make you just stop caring. Insensitive mid level management, and oblivious upper level management. Additionally, none of the management, including low level managers, actually had to jump through the hoops they now force on new hires. Also currently an oppressive place to work due to relentless layoffs month after month.
