      If it is good for Schlumberger, To heck with the employee.

      Pros

      They are willing to train employees at almost any cost and the training is top-notch. They took me from knowing absolutely nothing about the oilfield, fast tracked me from Field Specialist trainee to FS1 to FS2 to FS3 (senior field specialist) in just a little under 3 years.

      Cons

      They treated their field personel terrible. Passed company policies from the main office in Sugarland with little or no regard to their their employees. The layoffs (of which I survived) were extremely cruel. They wanted me to transfer away from my home of 15 years to an unknown location with a future that was uncertain at best. I quit to persue other possiblilties.

      Adventurous job but can be demoralising

      Pros

      Good benefits package with great travel opportunities, especially to see parts of the world not accessible to tourists. Great bonuses once you graduate past Grade 8

      Cons

      Generally low morale within the company. Long work hours, not very rewarding and can be monotonous strangled by bureacracy

      Pros

      It pays well for a out of college job. It provides great experience, if you can withstand it, for future jobs in the oilfield industry.

      Cons

      You have no life outside of work. Inexperienced management. Very poor morale, every job people have been discussing other offers and other jobs. The company doesn't seem to care.
