Pros

In the IFS group, the firm gives many opportunities to lead. US IT creates an environment which many can take on new projects and learn new skills on the job. The firm is very generous with vacation time, 3 weeks for all employees 2 years and below, 4.5 weeks for all staff above 2 years of service. PwC also has a very good training program. A variety of courses are available in house, online and through external vendor.

Cons

Within the IFS group, the opportunities for advancement are minimal. Management position are static. US IT promotions are only available when an position opens. It's very easy to become lost in this organization. Most IT functions are centralized so, local IT support has limited access to a variety of systems.

Pros

Within my department (IT department or GTS), I feel that the working environment was really supporting where every person was extremely helpful, fun and solid which suppresses the stress level and keeps employees morale to all time high. The upper level management provide satisfying feedback and recognition. They hold a staff assessment every month, therefore, I have a chance to improve in the area where I am lacking the most. They were extremely supportive as well. Every employee has a chance to prove their ability in leading a project.

Cons

Generally, career advancement in every PwC's line of services were satisfying, however, it was slower within my department. There were not so many open opportunities for career advancement under the internal support services.

Pros

Learning and education programs offered at PwC are probably the best you'll find anywhere. Also, you will be exposed to many advanced accounting issues and research opportunities that you may never even hear about in some private industry jobs. Finally, the culture is one that constantly encourages excellence and senior management continuously reminds us that it a "high performing culture." Opporunities for leadership roles are available in various capacities, which will help you immensely down the road if you do choose to leave the firm for an industry job.

Cons

Obviously, the hours and the stress that go along with being a "high performing culture" can be difficult at times, especially in the busy seasons (which can be more than one, for many people with multiple clients and multiple year-ends). In some cases it seems that it is the luck of the draw when you start with the firm, where some people get assigned to multiple, difficult clients, and others are assigned to one client and / or less strenuous ones. Finally, you have to remember that as you progress within the firn, you are ultimately selling professional services to some of the world's largest companies, which for some people can be difficult to manage and / or be a good fit for their personality.
