Pros

LMC is great, if you are a technical person or working a program. If you are the family member of a long time employee or one who is high up in the management or you work in a headquarters location, its a great place to work. The variety of types of work performed by the company is also good.

Cons

the changed benefit plan is horrible and there is almost NO ability to get a promotion in the job you currently perform. LM sets job categories/levels by the type of work the function will perform. However, due to mass layoffs, everyone is doing much more than they ever agreed to do when they took the job initially. And, since they NEVER promote based on current job performance, you have to apply to work for another dept or manager in order to move up. And now, not many new positions are posted so no one can even apply to transfer and move up. The PRS system is a joke and they've almost eliminated completely any monetary awards for hardwork.

Pros

Working with Lockheed you do get every other Friday off and generous amounts of vacation and holidays.

Cons

Everything is about the specific person that you know. People only promote people that are friends with the higher level management. You have to kiss butt to get to the top. Real talent isn't recognized. All 0-5 year employees leave for higher pay, more responsibility, and better management.

Pros

benefits, patriotism and support for the country and military, high technology and what that means for the future in general, okay salary (not great, but okay enough to live off of, well, if you are single with no children that is), work with smart professionals who generally show each other respect.

Cons

Uninspiring environment - gray cube walls and complete quiet which I find maddening, lack of mental challenge....I cannot believe I get paid for what I do at all...a junior high student could do my week's work after school in about 6-8 hours time. Many employees feel like they have nothing to do. The company is laying off like crazy, and everyone is afraid to say they have nothing to do or they will be terminated. This company, despite being technologically savvy, is behind the times in terms of work-life balance and what incoming generations (X & Y in particular) actually want out of their careers. Also, many managers here say they don't micromanage. By that what they really mean is they don't pay attention to you at all or have any idea what you are doing daily, or weekly, or even monthly. How do I say this......Many of the employees are 'gray' or 'vanilla'...boring with no vision. It is tough to be around them, so uninspiring.
