Pros

Grad school tuition reimbursement Decent Salary/Benefits Interesting work w/ DoD Agencies Work / Personal Life balance Good management Flexibly to find new opportunities in the company

Cons

Like any big company, you have the politics. They base engineers on "levels" which hardly reflect the true ability and skills. Just because someone has worked in industry for 15 years, does not mean they are a better engineer than someone with 2 years experience. A level 1 could very well be doing the exact job as a level 3 or 4 engineer, but be paid considerably less because of the years of experience and the level they get put at because of this.

Some good, lots of bad.

Pros

Good for getting experience under ones belt. Lots of good co-workers, and good time off benefits.

Cons

Lots of problems in management structure. It is akin to the movie office space, i.e. if one makes a simple mistake about 8 different managers tell you about it. Then they document the mistake and hold it against you during review time. An example of this is, once I made a 80 page report, and there were two typos. Those typos were brought up during performance discussions, as an example of lack of consistency and poor work ethic. There is also low pay increases, and management picks those who are going to get higher performance raises early in the year regardless of performance. Another downside is the health care, it does not cover many procedures and medications. It did not even cover penicillin (good thing its retail price is cheap).

Pros

great people to work with within the engineering levels of 1 through 5. You get 20% off on your Verizon plans.

Cons

Honestly, there is too much to list. I could write a book. But in short, the biggest problem with Lockheed is that it simply is just too large of a company and I feel like a commodity as opposed to a person. HR has way too much power at Lockheed. HR is not looking out for the employees like they should be. They are looking out for the company first.
