Pros

Great oportunities for movement once you get it. Great benefits package. Lots of room for growth if you are younger as the baby boomers retire. Stand up desks!

Cons

Depressing atmosphere and culture. Big age gap. Everything takes way longer than it should. Minimal support for new ideas and implementing chsnge.

A critique Since the Merger

Pros

Smart engineers and scientists have no reason to choose Lockheed Martin. Young females and female minorities are given every opportunity and second chances to excel at Lockheed Martin. Senior employees tend to suck because they are part of the good old boy system. Any young female that cannot sing kudo's about Lockheed Martin are just plain, lazy, complainers. Sharp aero engineers go to work at NASA, SpaceX or Orbital sciences. SpaceX is eating Lockheed Martins lunch.

Cons

Lockheed Martin is missing to many "Pro's" about working there. This company is the epitome of government graft and corruption. This company intentionally under bids US government contracts because they know there is always the time and money to do it over again. Case in point F-35, FBM, 'any software product', ULA, F-22, THAAD, C-5 Mod., ABL, etc. etc. etc. Overrunning is Lockheed Martins business model and the customer doesn't care because they are looking for a job at Lockheed Martin as soon as they retire from their government job.

Pros

Work life balance is always a concern for the company. Job outlook is very steady (as steady as contracts as with the government). And best of all there is room to move in any direction desired.

Cons

Pay is lower than competitors, moving up in the company can take time, bureaucratic, engineers are higher on the totem pole, work environment is not fresh. Certain departments tend to be "silo'ed" and harder to get out of/into.
