      * Pension program available for those work at LBL for 5 or more years. * Nice view of the bay from the Lab. * Satisfaction attained from working on research projects.

      Cons

      * Pay is significantly less than working in private industry. * Management consists of scientists who are skilled on the nuances of the sciences related to their PHD degrees rather than on the skills needed to manage groups of people (Peter Principle). * Bureaucratic, slow moving, with a lot of red tape.
