Disappointing raises. Benefits were cut several times in my 10 years there. There were several layoffs in that time too. Very bureaucratic so that relatively simple projects drag on for months or years. Middle and upper management are often clueless - they prefer to view people as autonomous positions rather that people who bring skills and creativity to the company. Some companies have a commitment to their employees in their mission statements - not JCI.
Their funding of multi-year projects is confused. There were two that began with great fanfare and large budgets only to be curtailed after a year or two when new budget constraints were announced - resulting in 9 figure sums being squandered in each case. The CEO office is becoming a soap opera. And I'm wondering if the decision to split automotive off from the rest of the company was based less on an unwillingness to invest in it or rather not having experience with it and not knowing how to run it.
