      Decent place to make a decent living, nothing more.

      Pros

      There are lots of very smart people. They pay me money and lots of it. There are lots of good toys to get your hands on. Their stock has retained valuation despite the current economic collapse. They make some really great ads and post them on TV. People think you're important when you work for IBM.

      Cons

      There is too much structure. They don't let you run off and create something merely for your amusement. Lots of time is spent on the phone dealing with trivia. There is a stupid office culture were you have to work in open offices.

      Great opportunities exist at IBM for those who want an exciting career

      Pros

      There are a few. The technology is great and the people who I have worked with are great team players. The assignments have been very challenging which I believe have helped me in achieving my career goals. My management team allows me to use my creativity in accomplishing my assignments. They continue to apprise me of IBM related issues and progress which has made me feel like part of the team. They have also given me time off for personal issues and have demonstrated their compassion to my needs. All in all this has been a great group of people to work for and with. My salary has grown through the years and I am comfortable with it's growth. My family and I feel great full for having the opportunity to work for IBM for these 30+ years.

      Cons

      The only downside I can think of is the changes of the medical plan. Although IBM never promised me free medical coverage it still continues to increase from year to year. The other area where they could use some improvement is in all of us who reach the qtr century club. It would be nice to honor this in a more thank full way. Other than that I am happy with the company.

      Pros

      Culture of innovation. The 800 pound gorilla. Progressive and multicultural work environment. Morale is good, and compensation is competitive.

      Cons

      IBM == "I'm By Myself". Working remotely all the time can at times be alienating.
