Pros

At the moment, my job is flexible. I can work from home a few times a week and as long as I'm getting my work done, my boss does not question me. However, this depends entirely on management. I've had some crazy, micromanagers too.

Cons

You are not praised for doing more work; it is expected. and the more work you do, the more you will get without compensation or praise.

Pros

It's a market leader with lot of opportunities. With over three hundred thousand employees around the globe and core business that spans hardware, software, and services, there are tons of opportunities to learn and grow in just about any area you field you care to pursue. Also, IBM is good at listening to it's employees. It is an organization that encourages autonomy and contribution by it's personnel. This may be due to the proclivity towards hiring independent minded technical people. In fact, you do not need be a sales or management star to excel at IBM. There are many, many individual contributors on a technical plane that are akin to executives with their power and pay.

Cons

It's a behemoth that encourages specialization and has an engineering dominated mindset

Pros

In my experience at IBM, managers were well-trained and were often interested in seeing employees grow and expand their skills. IBM does hire some wonderful people - I was able to learn many skills from many of my teammates and also developed a variety of mentoring relationships.

Cons

Work-life balance was always promoted but not always well-enforced. The size of IBM makes it a difficult company to learn and training in entry-level positions is not always available. Compensation was not always in line with other companies (for those in their early careers) and oftentimes employees would have to threaten quitting to receive a retention bonus.
