Pros

diverse company. lots of product lines. global company. if one makes the effort there can be a lot of learning.

Cons

you better manage your own career. management does not care much about you. they just happened to do a good technical job and then got promoted. you are on your own. the sooner you realize the better it is.

Pros

You need a big pay bump and they have a big need

Cons

Once you're there they will be very stingy with increases and bonuses. Partners basically run your life and if you get on their bad side it's all over for you. People that suck up to the boss are treated well, people that do a good job and don't kiss ass are considered middle of the road. Lots of politics here and if you're well liked you'll do well.

Pros

There's ample opportunity to work on cutting edge stuff. Anyone who enjoys systems programming and is good at it will have a job at IBM.

Cons

- The belts in the company are extremely tight right now. Despite record profits, IBM is not investing the money in their employees. - Getting your job outsourced is a constant fear. - attempting to complete any task is a constant battle. The bureaucracy at IBM is worse than its reputation.
