      Pros

      By far, the best reason to work for IBM is the flexibility to work from home. And perhaps it will look good on your resume.

      Cons

      Non-existent bonuses. 1-2% pay raises (at most). Incompetent management. IBM is offshoring much work to India, Brazil and Argentina. Management is fully committed to reducing the US workforce to a bare minimum.

      Talented people but we dread working here sometimes

      Pros

      My local team is great. We have talented people, 1st line manager tends to look out for us. That's about it for me.

      Cons

      Getting applications deployed internally is nothing but process process process. Although 1st line manager looks out for us, he's too much by the book. Dealing with internal clients... these people should be more technical. How many times do I have to explain to some client that a self signed certificate is not an error? What stinks is that these people make more than some of our architects and developers. Another 'huge" downside is working with developers in India. The #1 complaint is they stink at development. You end up going and forth with them a few times before they end up with something usable or you end up having to do the work yourself or assign it to someone locally. Once you do get someone in India that is on the ball, he/she moves on to another position outside the company for more pay. The cycle starts again and this is a common complaint not limited to my team
