Pros

Excellent work-life balance program, most IT personnel are able to work from home on a regular basis now. HSBC also has the backing of Group assets so it is a secure place to work, if you live in one of the major locations.

Cons

Politics Politics Politics. Working with a global company, standardization is supposed to streamline processes and run efficiently, however it results in lots of red tape and delayed projects. It is very frustrating to work with global virtual teams.

Pros

Stable bank with strong balance sheet Salary competitive though bonus may trail tier 1 bank

Cons

Even with a strong balance sheet, the bank is not immune to a downturn. Restructuring take place. Can be political depending on team Training not as rigorous as tier 1 bank
