Pros

The culture at HSBC was usually very positive. There were always opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the world.

Cons

The downsides were not any different that an any other employer. As the saying goes, the grass is not any greener on the other side of the fence.

Pros

Great bunch of people to work with Regional responsibilities - great exposure Reasonable recognition for good performance, however some bad performers were too often tolerated rather than further developed

Cons

Limited career advancement opportunity; Hard to get transfers to other departments or countries Internal business/ IT systems can be improved Long hours Limited training - everything had to be learnt on-the-job
