Pros

if the environment wasn’t so toxic, the work is interesting

Cons

The problem with working in IT are the sheer volume of bullies. I’ve been sexually harassed, called names by men who were incapable of taking any direction from a female, told there are rumors about me and people don’t like me in the LT but never given specifics. It’s standard practice that others take credit for your work. Every year I kill myself for this company and every year my manager finds a way to put me down. “Reality is perception” so you can’t even stick up for yourself. I try so hard and get good reviews but they make sure you are constantly put down so you keep kissing up and can never feel good about your accomplishments.

Pros

Early career engineers are given significant ownership and exposure to complex operational challenges. Strong focus on safety, technical development, and collaboration across disciplines. Opportunities to work on high-impact projects, interact with senior leadership, and contribute to decisions affecting major assets and infrastructure.

Cons

Workloads can be demanding, and priorities can shift quickly based on operational needs. Decision-making processes can be slow due to organizational complexity, and geographic mobility may be necessary for certain career opportunities.
