Pros

There are so many trainings every week that you end up accumulating a lot of knowledge over the years. The gratis is great; you get tons of freebies to try. Sephora is a great starting point in your Makeup Artist/Skincare Consultant career. You learn a lot on the job.

Cons

Depending on the location, the rest of your Sephora experience can either be good or bad. I've worked for wonderful managers who made my experience phenomenal and pushed me to advance; and then I've worked for lazy managers who lack experience in the field and who play favorites. Under these types of managers, your opportunity for advancement comes to a slow crawl. Also, the turnover in some of these stores is ridiculously high so you are constantly having to train new people only to say goodbye to them months later.

Pros

fun getting gratis and hosting in-store events, meeting brand ambassadors/managers, socializing with clients

Cons

manager created a weird environment -- coaching moments were sometimes extremely aggressive for a retail environment; strict on not applying makeup to clients unless they purchase a service. once made me move from a disabled client quickly because I was "spending too much time with them" and to further boost the store sales. felt extremely unethical.
