Pros
Good pay and benefits. Strong company which will be around for a long time. There are advantages of working for a private company, such as being less sensitive to short-term market pressures.
Cons
There were many layoffs at my facility over the years. It was difficult and depressing to go through the constriction/downsizing that happened at the local level.
