Pros
When you're the GM you have the ability to create the work environment and culture and I loved my kids and adults in my crew.
Cons
The Salary did not balance out the amount of hours I was working. When I had Covid (as this was 2021) I was still required to work while I was at home. My regional manager also had to do this as well, bonuses are difficult to reach. Specific awards ceremonies/"fun" rewards for upper management are mandatory and I still had to work my regular required hours. Regional and higher superiors do not care about your personal success or goals they want you to not have a life outside of Five guys, they expect you to answer your personal phone when they call and they pay you very little in salary for their demands and a 60 hr work week. I was angry, exhausted, my direct supervisor was a yes man. He isn't a bad guy but he doesn't stand up to his superiors and will not stick up for his management staff or himself. He will let them fall through the cracks instead of being helpful. If you're single without kids and you want your whole life to revolve around other people's kids and make enough money to have a mediocre one bedroom apartment that's empty because you're never home. Congratulations Five Guys management is for you!
