Pros

-Quite a bit of opportunity to be given a lot of responsibility very quickly. -Easy access to upper management. -Given quite a bit of independence if you can prove yourself early on. -Still a good a brand name -Support provided towards CFA, though you have to commit to stay on for a certain time period (or you have to repay all funds) -Management is generally flexible in terms of schedule as long as you get the work done. Though face time gets a lot more focus now a days.

Cons

-No focus on career development -Really tough to move between groups (aside from maybe AMG) and associates get stuck with stagnant careers very quickly... -Politics have become a problem post layoffs from the last 2 years... -Raises are terrible and general compensation does not match the rest of the street. They've really been low balling folks since last year. I know plenty of people looking to move out after the payout this year due to terrible #s. -Work/ Life balance can change very quickly... -Strong focus on hiring A type personalities... good and bad... but just an FYI -Strong focus on technical skills in proprietary applications that are not transferable

Pros

Branding branding branding!!! an incredible brand, and having it on your resume opens some doors but not all.

Cons

The Preqin acquisition never really found its identity after becoming part of BlackRock. It felt like the focus shifted from listening to clients to fitting Preqin into a broader BlackRock strategy. As AI changes how firms access and analyze private market data, simply being a data provider isn’t enough anymore. My impression was that Preqin’s long-term value is likely to come from being integrated into the broader Aladdin ecosystem and APIs, rather than remaining a standalone platform. Leadership would benefit from spending more time listening to customers and the teams on the front lines instead of assuming they already know what the market wants.
