Pros

Rotation program is good for a variety of experience. Depending on the team, work hours in APG team could be short. Most ppl here in SF leave between 5-6. Work is not too stressful. Nap room is pretty neat.

Cons

1. Don't really have lots of technical challenging projects. In fact, I wasn't even given SWE work for the past few months despite being in APG group.. I worked more like a business operation person. 2. If you are not in finance, you feel like a second class citizen. 3. They significantly underpay you compare to other tech companies in the bay area. After I left the company my salary doubled... 4. Micro management is everywhere. Senior managers walk around on the floor to see how hard people are working everyday, how many hours of face time they show etc. 5. No perks. No free lunch/dinner anything. 6. Very financy culture. They watch how you dress everyday and when you show up to the office. Super hierarchical. You only get to do what your manager tell you to do in the way they wanted it be done, if you are a junior person. I wouldn't recommend anyone who's a software engineer to work here...

Pros

Branding branding branding!!! an incredible brand, and having it on your resume opens some doors but not all.

Cons

The Preqin acquisition never really found its identity after becoming part of BlackRock. It felt like the focus shifted from listening to clients to fitting Preqin into a broader BlackRock strategy. As AI changes how firms access and analyze private market data, simply being a data provider isn’t enough anymore. My impression was that Preqin’s long-term value is likely to come from being integrated into the broader Aladdin ecosystem and APIs, rather than remaining a standalone platform. Leadership would benefit from spending more time listening to customers and the teams on the front lines instead of assuming they already know what the market wants.
