Pros

Great people to work with, great opportunities for advancement if willing to work hard. I would have nothing really negative to say about my experience there, I made regular career advancements throughout my 26 year career there. Company is progressive and diversified, and they have levereaged their portfolio to protect against market fluxuations very well.

Cons

Recent merger of Truck and Automotive groups into one Vehicles Group has caused major confusion within the front line work force. Large corporate atmosphere removes much of the individuality and talent of it's workforce. The move was supposed to highlight the 'Power of One', but it was handled poorly by upper management, and coupled with the economic downturn seemed to cause mass-confusion instead of the benefits as outlined.

Pros

Most ethical company I've experienced, with tremendous focus on empowering folks to deliver on commitments. Financially sound with keen eye for business stability on the downside and preparation for the upturn.

Cons

Strong focus on leveraging low cost global workforce and supply chain has increased the keen sense of needing to perform above average to stay even.

Pros

This company floated through the depression in the stock market like it barely even happened. The sheer size of the company combined with the nature of products we sell makes it a behemoth that's pretty well buffered from the ups & downs that have a much bigger impact on other companies. We also tend to buy out any up-and-coming small company that could be a disruptive force, and integrate them in to "the borg". So if you're a competent employee, your job and benefits are pretty rock-solid stable.

Cons

Sort of the nature of the beast in a company this large: lots of bureaucracy which results in a significant portion of our time being spent on activities that are unproductive. Also, the company is much more manufacturing-oriented than technology-oriented, so there's not a very attractive career path for those who want to remain on the engineering side of things rather than jumping ship to management.
