      Pros and Cons like most places...but it's changing

      Pros

      Good training, respected name, encouragement of development, good leadership, interesting clients, good community service opportunities, fair maternity/paternity options, smart and intelligent people, well paid at senior levels, lots of mobility within the firm

      Cons

      The 'work/life balance' that was so praised at Deloitte has shifted massively in the past few years, partly due to technology changes (24/7 access to people), partly due to market (work hard to stay ahead), and some due to pressure from senior management on more junior staff. Now it's more bankers hours plus weekends job away from home without the pay.

      1. Other big 4 will start to eye on us as potential staff as this firm works us like dogs, so we are highly economical 2. Able to build good relationships with clients who pity the working condition of the staffs

      Cons

      1. For performance rating, there are Leadership (L), A grade, B grade, C grade and D grade. Onluy about 1 or 2% scores L while another 5 or 8 % scores A grade. NO BONUS or minimal (less than one month, for example 0.8 month) for B grade and below. D grade will be asked to leave and C grade will be forced to leave at a slow pace 2. Ranking is very important 3. Not allowed to raise any complains 4. Usage of vulgar words is OK practise

      Pros

      Your exposure really depends a lot on your own desire. Some engagements can be political but if you are down to earth you will fit in. Almost 80% of the people you work with are those you can hang out with at a bar. Overall the organization is very broad and you can have a lot of leeway in moving around.

      Cons

      Partners are really a 50-50 call, some can be very proactive at engaging with lower level employees some can snub you. Work-life balance is a joke - if you are a high-performed, expect to work more than anyone, close to 90 hours in buse periods - any days off you will actually be working from home. The number of managers is now close to the level of seniors, as a lot of seniors have left - so expect to report to 4-5 managers at a time, which is very stressful.
