A good company to work for but they need better communication with employees.
Pros
You have opportunities to move to a new job/area within the company if you'd like a change. Management is generallly supportive of this type of move, however, some see it as a lack of loyalty when you make a lateral move within the company. The company is a big player in a small town so you get the benefits of working for a multinational company without having to live in a big city. The work atmosphere is generally casual . Their benefits are good and seem to be fairly administered. Their pay scale is higher than any other company in Columbus.
Cons
Their annual forced ranking of employees where10% are outstanding (level 1), 80% are doing a good job as expected (Level 2), and 10% are considered substandard and therefore subject to termination (level 3.) The problem is that 10% of the employees in the department are "forced" into the bottom tier and will probably be fired. Being in the bottom tier does NOT make you a bad employee, it just means that in your supervisors opinion you aren't as good as the others. I've seen some excellent employees terminated in the annual RIF (reduction in force). Morale and productivity both take quite a plunge in the 4th quarter because people are worrying about whether they are going to be fired.
