Pros

On the Power Generation (PG) side, they support you 100%. Super lenient with how you run your day-to-day. You have jobs to do and you are in charge of how to get them done. You also can take control of your schedule by talking to your customers. I loved the flexibility. If you are a good worker and show that you want to improve, they will set you on course for that. They are super supportive for education and assistance in the field. They would often pair me up with another tech who was working on a complex system so I could learn and get exposure to more complicated systems.

Cons

Even if you are improving, they typically don't increase your wages much more over inflation, if that. However, if you want major jumps in wages, it is best to learn new skills and level up (ie go from Tech 1 to Tech 2 etc) and transfer internally. You will have to move every few years or so which can be a con but I view it as a plus.
