Pros

This is a good place and varied opportunities are available for personnal growth. There are also good people working there and some of them want to work hard but with having fun at the same time. Some of the people wants to share their knowledge and mentor the others.

Cons

Most of the time, we cannot really choose the kind of contract that you will be ending into. This company is so big that you are a number in the ocean. Pay raise is often split into "raise" and "raise bonus". So you receive what you think is fair but it is not really a salary raise !!!

Pros

Good place for IT entry-mid levels. CGI does pay fairly for IT jobs, however raise are between 3-5 percent yearly. Carreer opprtunities are far apart and unless you are in a leadership role you will go unnoticed for promotions, you might as well get a new contract or job for CGI and then you will get a promotion. Take the CGI job if you want to have experience and learn about different companies around Europe. CGI is split inot several regional units and jumping from one another is not easy. Effectively if you want to transfer from North America to Europe, will be quitting your job and hired again.

Cons

Pros

Work Life balance. CGI Federal is not like other consulting firms and offers a very flexible work schedule which is the only reason I am still working at this company.

Cons

--It's very hard to find a good manager at CGI Federal. The senior management hammers project managers so hard about hitting their numbers that the people who are actually doing the grunt work are ignored and forgotten about. --Promotions are ridiculous and all about whos rear-end you can kiss. People who have been working here for 5+ years are still consultants whereas a person working for 2 years who started as a college hire is promoted to Sr. Consultant. It's almost a joke. --In order to get promoted, they will tell you that you need to do X, Y, and Z. So then X, Y and Z come along and they will not let you do them hence holding you back from your career growth. It's all about the money at this place.
