Pros

Brocade is the world leader in its product space. The work hours are quite flexible. Bonus program covers most of the employees and it's fantastic. Paid Time Off per year is more than any company I have worked for so far in my career. Product cycles are executed smoothly and effectively. While Brocade is a mid-sized company, it encourages a startup work environment. Most employees are proud of their jobs and management does effective job of motivating employees. Various functional groups collaborate quite effectively. In short, benefits, flexible work environment and more than competitive pay are big reasons for you to consider a career at Brocade.

Cons

The name of the company is not that popular given it's size and number of employees.

Pros

As a "small" big company, everyone is personally connected-- like an exclusive club-- as opposed to a giant monster of a company where everyone's a stranger and there's no camaraderie. I've been having lunch regularly with a couple of people I just met and had a great conversation with on the elevator-- and our departments are in no way related! The feedback system is great here, with a very structured on-boarding process that has made me feel very comfortable not only getting acquainted with Brocade as a company, but with corporate culture as well. The atmosphere is so welcoming yet so driven, it's easy to understand how to work hard and play hard at the same time here. I'm no exception-- this is the general consensus on my team and among other colleagues, and it's no wonder we were voted one of the top ten places to work in the Bay Area.

Cons

There are few downsides that I've seen so far working here. Much of the experience will depend on which manager you have, but generally I've seen heavy lifting in all departments when things get increasingly hectic. As a growing company, growing pains include process improvements and overhauls, which can be irritating to deal with. But again, faced with these challenges, Brocade as large and as small as it is, seems to coordinate well with the least amount of drama to at least journey in the right direction, if not achieve.

Pros

- Work/life balance (Company encourages work/life balance. Employees have an option to telecommute whenever necessary.) - Compensation & Benefits (salaries are very competitive with industry standards. Profit sharing or Bonus provides additional benefits. ESPP is offered to provide employees a discount on the company stocks) - Vacation policy (one of the best vacation policies. employees get anywhere between 4-6 weeks of vacation per year. the max out rate for vacation is very high.) - Strong management (this is not a company where organizational changes happen often. If organizational changes do happen, it is done for a good cause and employees are not left dissatisfied by it)

Cons

- Little career growth opportunities (The company's structured such that there are not that many tiers in the organization structure.) - Very little training/development or educational resources made available (company doesn't offer many educational/training options to employees and is very restrictive in paying towards education/training) - Recognition and Rewards are rare (while recognition and rewards is largely dependant on management, company doesn't encourage all managers to follow this technique to boost employee morale) - Team building efforts are not strongly practised (some teams have team building efforts like once in a 3-6 month period. most teams don't have any team building efforts.)
