Pros

Lots of turnover and layoffs and if you manage to survive, you’ll get pick of your friends’ old jobs!

Cons

I don’t recommend BD. Not to friends, not to colleagues and not to strangers. When vetting this company as a potential employer, beware. They use deceptive tactics on social media for “reputation management.” It’s cheaper than fixing a negative work environment. Read the critiques of the company carefully. What bothers me about the culture at BD? They do not care about your bad experience or what you think, ever. In their minds, problems are never them, it’s always the problem of lower level “buffer” employee they can toss the blame on. They’ll burying wrongdoing and pretend it never happened. How about try to be a better company? Wishful thinking ... Are you a wishful thinker? This is not the company for you. Zero truth to power. BD has thin skin management that is incapable of dealing with criticism. Simply put, because they don’t listen, they don’t learn. This is one of the company’s biggest weakness and is getting much worse. This will frustrate you if you work here. It will seriously drive you nuts. It’s a dollars and cents company. You are a number and if you’re low on the list, you’ll be shamed to see if you’ll leave on your own (this is cheaper for them), and if that does not work you will be laid off in the coldest terms possible. HR at this company carries the senior leaders’ water and is savage. Layoffs are a normal thing here. If you’re still around and become bothered by watching your friends get axed, you’re next. “This is fine.” Meme level stuff here. The creepy loyalty that they expect is NOT mutual. They’ll lure you from your 20 year career and fire you in less than a year, and maybe give you a month’s worth of salary when they show you the door. This happens more often than you’d think. Most employees here have expiration dates on their jobs. Zero love loss. They won’t support you. They manage head count, they don’t train and nor do they support talent. Get in the boys club and your safe. You will not be trained as to how you can do this. This is my take on the culture in one sentence: They only care about the stock price and will fleece patients, customers and employees to make the numbers (and themselves) look good.

Management is horrible

Pros

Good benefits, really that's why 90% of the people stay there.

Cons

The MMS Department at BD in general is in terrible state, management is horrible, they cannot comprehend how to hire and train people to be good, every new employees especially the ones in Texas are horrible and give customers a bad experience. no regards for employees life, there is one good manager in the whole support dept. of MMS, the rest are either unskilled or literal bullies. Not only will they not promote your career advancement they will try to slow it down by telling you that you "are not ready" to take on the job you'Re looking at, while the guy that had the job peviously tells you that you would have no issues doing it and then when you find something else outside of BD to advance your career they will become hostile and even worse. So basically if you join the MMS team you have 1 chance out of about 10 managers to get the good one that will work WITH you and not AGAINST You. Since carefusion has merged with BD everything became worse and worse every month and it doesn't look like it with get better. In the past year and a half at the new office at least 10-15 people quit and were never replaced. Career opportuinties are ok if you can move in the US, but if you have a family and need to stay in Canada, then they are basically non existent.
