Pros

Work life balance is very good. Normal work hours and very unusual to work on a weekend.

Cons

Company decisions to do almost anything from the most complicated to the most simple take forever. Worst IT organization I have ever come across. The IT infrastructure costs the average employee at least an hour a day dealing with lousy hardware and software.

Pros

Good reputation. Good people. Consistent wall street performance. Good benefits (?). (see below)

Cons

Very conservative business culture. Can get bogged down in processes. Although they like to think so, they really aren't on the cutting edge of technology. Need new R&D blood (in Maryland). Product development choices are made for most inexpensive option that end up costing company, service and customer after product release. Work / life balance is nonexistent. Working to change the culture under new "Delta" initiative, but they have a long way to go. Past change initiatives never changed much of anything. Benefits have recently devolved. This is last year anyone can retire under traditional pension plan. I think that for a company whose motto is "Helping All People Live Healthy Lives", the healthcare benefits should be top notch, not just "good". As others have stated, career opportunities are limited unless you manage to latch on to a good mentor (and they are few). Learn here, go elsewhere to advance and use what you learned. (or suck up to someone) Programs in place to help employees get a Bachelor's degree, and if you're in Sales or Marketing, can get assistance with MBA. $$ to attend scientific conferences and professional meetings are usually the first things cut EVERY YEAR when they do mid-year finance reviews. Employee moral can be very low - especially with the ever cyclical RIFs and need for remaining employees to take up the slack. Extremely prevalent Glass Ceiling. Number of females in top level management positions has DECREASED over last five years. Lots of 50-ish men in gray suits.
