Pros

Very central and well-connected location

Cons

I can describe Avanade as a bunch of skillless people who cover each other's back to keep their jobs in this 'hard for business time'. And here's a few reasons why: - Awful onboarding: they all stuck in some old systems and you never can have real human support, everyone is hiding under an e-mail address. - Terrible management and irresponsible hiring: they are not able to provide that kind of work they hired you for and will throw on you different unrelated to your role tasks juts to keep you busy, and after this will put a lot of pressure on you regarding your 'career goals' and how are you going to achieve them. - 'Playing politics' is the main key to success there - probably a common symptom for a corporation but highly visible here. - They don't have any integrity and don't respect the values they state for: if people matter for Avanade, how comes that those people don't have at least a normal place to eat or, sometimes, even to work.

Pros

Some snacks are available in the office.

Cons

It’s a consulting company that cares about billable hours, not craft. If you want to learn anything serious within your discipline, I’d suggest you stay away. The caliber of the people who work here is very low. They hire mimics not originals and they can’t even tell the difference because no one is an expert there. I feel bad for the clients that work with the teams at Avanade.

Pros

Avanade might be a good choice for someone at the end of their career. It is not a good place to gain experience and build a career.

Cons

Unsupportive and unresponsive leads and managers, training targets that are always on the move and therefore never mean anything once complete, no yearly bonus or perks for new employees (analyst level), impossible to get work that actually aligns with your abilities, a review process where you just review yourself, talented people excluded from promotion or advancement because they didn't volunteer their weekends on behalf of the company that year, and in general you can expect to be treated as disposable labor on the project you are assigned. The list goes on. Good luck finding a reference when you try to leave. Avoid at all costs.

We are actively transforming our performance management process to move away from an emphasis on formal annual reviews and ratings to regular check-points and career discussions where individuals are receiving feedback all year long. The goal is to embed feedback, and career conversations, into everyday interactions. And it’s a two way street – we encourage our people to actively seek input from their managers and to also give feedback to those they work with and for. It’s a culture shift and one we think will have a significant benefit to everyone who works at Avanade.
